Each month we start with a theme. We explore that theme with extensive art practice over the 4 weeks. We break down our 3-hour classes into part learning and part doing. A typical class will begin with a draw downtime. This is where the children will take out a provided composite book and for around 30 minutes draw their own interpretation of the day's word.
During the week we will be discussing and execute art theory. Art theory consists of learning to work with the color wheel, implementing shapes and identifying different mediums within the art world.
We also teach art culture, students will learn about art influences, famous artists, Art within history and other culture’s art.
Within the coming months, we are wanting to expand our middle schooler's digital art skills by bringing VR Technology to our classes once a month. The students will learn how to produce different genres of art in a 3d world.
Times: One day a week, from after school to 6:00 PM.
Maryville Arts District will supply all the materials for the lessons.
it is necessary for students to have art classes to help foster creative problem-solving skills.
